If society would be a better place without God and humans can save themselves, what about communism?

Red herring. Communism doesn't go wrong because it promotes non-religious world-view, it is very susceptible to being couped by power-hungry sociopaths. Marxism also teaches that all people are basically good, a stance which easily can be abused.
