What color vests should the groomsmen wear?

My thought is that imaginatively colored men's formal wear is ghastly. This sort of thing is for bartenders, chorus boys, and very young men attending their first prom. Go for the black and white penguin suit. Put colored ribbons on the boutonnieres if you want to color the fellows up, but don't do more.
