What is the maximum "allowed" length for men's shorts?

There is a cool outdoor company named (Kuhl) that makes some great clothes. So, I bought some below-the-knee shorts and while they look great...they are dangerously close to looking like Capri pants. What is the maximum "allowed" length for men's shorts?
