On advice,for home security,got a 2- 18 in. barrel-12guage shotgun--does it have good stopping power?

A friend of mine has a coach gun by his bed and keeps the 1st shooting barrel loaded with #4 (to take em down) and the 2nd loaded with 000 (to take em OUT). He also had a machinist friend fashion a light holder that clamps onto the barrels. He has a pressure switch on the light and at 25-ft the #4 pattern is about the size of the light beam so where the light shines, the shot goes! Just aim from the hip and let er fly!
